Aisha is the only girl in the class, and she outperforms all the boys, especially in science. She would love to continue her studies, encouraged by Ms. Halima, the new science teacher.
But in this village in northern Cameroon, girls are expected to learn how to cook so they can become good wives as soon as possible; at least that’s what Baba, Aisha’s father, believes. He has already received the dowry paid by the man (his age) to whom he intends to marry his daughter.
Will Aisha get her way? Will Ms. Halima succeed in rallying the other women in the village by sharing some scientific knowledge with them? This is the heart of the story told by Thierry Herbert Kamdem in “Seeds of Science” based on an original idea by Stéphane Kenmoe.
